Master Introduction Sessions Spring Semester 2017: Get Together and Pub Crawl
Yesterday, the second part of our organized introduction sessions for our new students in the master programs Business Informatics, Business Mathematics and the newly launched Mannheim Master in Data Science (MMDS) took place. During an introductory presentation, the students could get a first impression of their new professors and lecturers, together with their research foci, their offered lectures and possibilities for seminar and master theses. We would like to thank the chair representatives for their participation, namely Prof. Guido Moerkotte (Praktische Informatik III), Prof. Simone Ponzetto (DWS-Group), Prof. Christian Becker (Wirtschaftsinformatik II), Okan Aydingül (Wirtschaftsinformatik I) and Prof. Colin Atkinson (Software Technik). We already requested the slides of the presentations and are going to upload them here once we have them.
During the get together following the presentations, the students could get in touch with their future lecturers personally over a cup of coffee and a nice piece of cake.
In the evening, we took the new students on a trip to the “Mommen (Mannheim) Nightlife” – our traditional pub crawl. Our first stop was the restaurant Tomate, where we could not only drink German beer, but also grab something to eat. After that, we left for Barrios, where we focused rather on exotic cocktails than beer. We got lucky and arrived there during happy hour – two cocktails for the price of one! Our last stop at around 10 p.m. was Café Vienna, which is also very popular for our student union regulars’ table (“Stammtisch”). The drop out rate was pleasantly low this year and most of the initial 40 pub crawlers hung in until Vienna. We hope you had a nice evening and are looking forward to your participation in other FIM events this semester!
